“Art is my life and my life is art” Yoko Ono
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be an artist nothing else. I started drawing at a young age trying to recreate what I saw on TV in particular shows like Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon. This is where my love for anime, manga and comics would begin, and it is from these mediums I still draw heavy inspiration from.
From there my parents made sure I got more structured and was exposed to many different forms of art as possible future careers. Via Saturday/Sunday and summer art classes at the prestigious Brooklyn Museum of Art and Pratt Institute I learned styles such as comics, architecture, painting and many more. During high school I didn’t know what direction to take my budding artistic talents I just knew I wanted to make a career out of my art. At the encouragement and guidance of my senior art teacher Ms. Glover I first learned about Graphic Design and knew this was the path I wanted to follow.
No longer did I just doodle characters or play at being a painter now I wanted to learn about creating logos, covers, posters and typography while incorporating a computer as much as pencil and paper. This would lead me to an Associates Degree in Graphic Design from SUNY Cobleskill in 2014 and a broadening of my artistic horizons with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Design from the University of Bridgeport in 2018. At Bridgeport I discovered a new love for working with my hands and creating products, I was literally breathing life into my ideas further developing myself as a artist. My long-term goals for the future are to become a Creative Director or a Chief Design Officer overseeing all facets of design for a company or start my own design business encompassing graphic design, industrial design, animation, clothing, comics, print essentially all of my interests and whatever a client asks of me.
